Go to Settings->About device and check the model number of your phone. This method supports the following models of Galaxy Note 5: T-Mobile SM-N920T Sprint SM-N920P Canadian SM-N920W8 Korean SM-N920K, SM-N920S, SM-N920L Note 5 DUOS SM-N9208 SM-N920C, SM-N920G, and SM-N920I US Celluar SM-N920R4 This root method also supports S6 Edge+, process is identical but you will have to find the correct TWRP file for your model, see Step 7 for Details. AT&T SM-N920A and Verizon SM-N920V are not supported in this root method due to LOCKED bootloaders. If you want root, consider switching carriers. Make sure you have Android version 6.0 or 6.0.1. If you have 5.1.1, see root method for Lollipop here instead. Step 2. Tap on "Build number" about 5 times until it says, "Developer mode has been turned on." Step 3. Tap the back button once and you will see a new menu button called "Developer options", tap on that. Step 4. If you see "OEM Unlock", make sure it's set ON. If you don't see it, skip to next step. Step 5. Power off your phone then hold down Volume Up, Center Home and Power buttons until you see a warning screen like below: Step 6. Connect a micro-USB cable from your phone to your Windows computer. You will need a Windows computer to root or have Windows running on top of Mac or Linux using VMWare. Step 7. Download the appropriate files. Download: Download ODIN Download Galaxy Note 5 USB drivers Download no-verify-opt-encrypt.zip Download SuperSU zip TWRP Recovery for Galaxy Note 5 (for T-Mobile SM-N920T, Canadian SM-N920W8, US Celluar SM-N920R4, Korean SM-N920K, SM-N920S, SM-N920L,SM-N920C, SM-N920G, and SM-N920I) TWRP Recovery for Galaxy Note 5 Sprint SM-N920P TWRP Recovery for Galaxy Note 5 DUOS SM-N9208 For S6 Edge+, download TWRP recovery for your model of S6 Edge+ at TWRP.me. Step 8. Run the Odin program in ODIN folder. Step 9. You should see a blue highlighted box with a random COM number. If you don't see it, you have to install the proper Note 5 USB drivers. Install it and try reconnecting the microUSB cable, you should see it. (If you have trouble, try rebooting your computer after driver installation, also try using different USB port/cable and DO NOT USE a USB HUB.) Step 10. Choose "AP" then choose the TWRP file you downloaded earlier. Step 11. Hit Start and as soon as you see "PASS!" and your phone reboots, hold down Volume Up, Center Home, and Power buttons together for about 10 seconds until you enter TWRP. If you miss this step, you can power down your phone and do the buttons to get into TWRP. Step 12. Once in TWRP, swipe right to allow modifications. Step 13. Choose "Wipe". Step 14. Choose "Format Data". and type "yes". THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE! Step 15. Once that's done, hit the Home button then choose "Reboot". Then choose "Recovery". This will reboot you into TWRP recovery. Step 16. Once in TWRP, swipe right again to allow modifications. Step 17. Go to your computer and copy over the SuperSU and no-verify-opt-encrypt.zip files to the internal storage of your Note 5. Step 18. Next choose "Install". Then choose "no-verify-opt-encrypt.zip". And swipe to install. Step 19. Choose "Install" again. Then choose the SuperSU zip file. And swipe to flash. Step 20. When that's done, tap on "Reboot System" to reboot phone. Step 21. Once rebooted, sign in and you will find a new app called "SuperSU" in your app drawer. Tap on it to open the app. Step 22. If you don't see any errors, you have successfully rooted your Galaxy Note 5! You can verify you have 100% full root by installing a rooted app like Titanium Backup app from the Play Store. You should see a Superuser request window pop up like below:
